Two people have died and two others were injured in a crash involving a tractor and a pickup truck, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 2:15 a.m. on Interstate 35 near New Iberia.
The two victims were identified as a 41-year-old man from New Orleans and a 51-year old man from Louisiana, authorities reported.
One man was killed at the scene and another was taken to a hospital.
The truck was found abandoned about a mile away.
No one else was injured.
The tractor was found on the side of the highway, but investigators were not sure whether the crash was related to the accident.
They also are investigating whether it was the truck’s driver, a 56-year–old man, who was speeding or the truck was trying to merge onto the highway.
It’s the first crash involving an active highway.
There was no word on any injuries to the truck.
The highway was closed for about an hour.
